- This anatomical plate was created in collaboration with a content expert from Hopkins’ Functional Anatomy department. The aim was to educate physicians and students about the relevant anatomy surrounding cortisone injection sites in the shoulder.
Process
1. Initial Sketch
Using references from anatomy atlases, I carefully traced out the course of various nerves over muscle and bone. I also decided which anatomy needed to be transparent.

2. Rough Sketch
Next, I used pencil to create my rough sketch and then arranged my labels.

3. Line & Color
Still using pencil, I created my final line work, taking care to keep each element separate. I then began to add digital color.

4. Render
This piece was rendered with many layers of transparency masks in order to follow the paths of the nerves.
